Saterday FIT OCEAN Team racers paddled the GlaGla Race. This is a race in Annecy France with 500 participants on lake Annecy.

For FIT OCEAN Team racer Michael paddled place 23 in his catagory, much respect as we only had a Ultra 12’6 board available. And Christoph who paddled place 1 in the 14ft inflatable short distance catagory.

Interview with Christoph, who won the shortdistance, catagory 14ft infltable SUP

FO: How was it?
CH: My goal here was the olympic motto: participating is more important then winning. I had not done a lot of preparation so was not aiming for competition. As they say in Switzerland: ” being there is everything”.

FO: What about the race itself. How did it develop?
CH: Basically it was a long haul forward, a turn around the buoy and then i saw lots of paddlers behind me.

FO: What did you think about the board (Christoph paddled the 2018 FIT OCEAN ULTRA 14ft)
CH: It was very stable and fast. It is more stable then my Red Paddle Elite 14ft. The conditions were sometimes very choppy so stability is key for racing. I don’t know if it is faster, we would have to measure that. I loved the ULTRA board and will buy one for my next season.

FO: What would you change about the board?
CH: About the 14ft I really would not change anything, except maybe include a fin with the FCS II connect system instead of the now included FCS I.

FO: What fin did you use?
CH: Danny Chang FCS II

FO: Do you have any other technical tipps for board design?
CH: First off, I am impressed with the quality of the fIT OCEAN boards. I am amazed how good the gluing of the FIT OCEAN boards are. I had the shorter version ULTRA 12’6 for more then a month at home and kept it’s pressure perfectly. What I would change is the following. I really like the tail of the 14ft and think you should use that design also for the shorter 12’6 ULTRA board.

FO: Thank you so much for the interview, see you on the water!
